This is the end of a two year process of design and various stages of interpretation ideas. The brief originally came to us the desire to create a series of hubs using cut through corten steel. However, we felt that this treatment was a little unsympathetic to the project aims so we created a completely new design. The hubs came from the notion of a pit wheel within which we introduced the stories of the landscape setting for each hub. Thus the story is in steel. There supporting interpretation panel puts flesh on the boss of these stories. The spinning zinc etched discs and coloured resin introduce a fun element allowing for the interpretation to appeal to a wide ranging audience including children. The maker was Chris Brammall - his work is truly creative and working with was inspiring.
